Who are members of the Prevention and Family Support Team?

Meet the team that leads Powerful Families for Casey Family Programs, in collaboration with our partners:

Constance Rice, Ph.D.
Managing Director of Prevention and Family Support

Constance is a dynamic leader who came to Casey with a multitude of experiences. She served as senior vice chancellor and vice chancellor for the second-largest higher education institution in Washington State. She also founded the Health and Nutrition Program for seven Seattle Public Schools. As executive director of the Desmond Tutu Peace Foundation USA, she created the Desmond Tutu Young Emerging Leaders program, which has been successfully replicated in Milwaukee, Seattle, and Cape Town, South Africa. Recently, Constance served as president of CWR, Inc., an organizational development firm specializing in executive coaching governance retreats and strategic planning for fundraising and community development. While working with CWR, she also founded two Strategic Education Centers in Swaziland-in Mbabane and Emcozini-with which she continues her important work. She earned a Senior Management Certificate from Harvard University and Masters in Public Administration and a Ph.D. in higher education from the University of Washington.

Margaret (Margie) Hunt, LCSW
Director of Prevention and Family Support

Margaret (Margie) Hunt came to the Prevention and Family Support team from Casey's northwest region's Tukwila Community Schools Collaboration. As program coordinator for the collaboration, she coordinated a new full-service community schools program with partners including Casey, City of Tukwila, the Puget Sound Educational Service District, Dept. of Social and Health Services, and the Tukwila School District, where over 555 children and families were served. Margie has also served as the national middle school trainer and program evaluator for the Families and Schools Together Program (FAST). Before that, she worked as a program manager and clinical supervisor for the Metropolitan Family Service GEARS (Gaining Empowerment Access Responsibility and Support) program in Portland, Oregon. Margie has over 15 years of experience in nonprofit, community-based, social service programs. She holds a B.A. in English literature from Georgetown University and a Masters in Social Work from Portland State University.

Kelly Guy
Manager of Prevention and Family Support

Kelly Guy comes to Prevention and Family Support from the City of Houston Mayor’s Office, where she served as Mayor’s Youth Programs Coordinator and Liaison. Before working with for the City of Houston, Kelly was a Recreation Center Coordinator with the City of Seattle where her career began as a Teen Leader. She has over ten years of experience working with at-risk youth and community program development and implementation.

Ms. Guy holds a Bachelors of Arts in Communications from the University of Washington, and a Master’s in Public Administration from Seattle University.

Currently Kelly is a member of BCDI-Seattle Chapter and enjoys volunteering at her local community center and serving as a mentor to youth.

Shelia D. Braxton
Community Specialist (Seattle)

Shelia came to Casey from the City of Seattle, where she worked as a case manager with the Department of Aging and Disability Services. She holds a B.S. in occupational therapy from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Shelia has also completed a pastoral education certificate program with an emphasis in crisis intervention, addiction treatment, and spiritual counseling. She has over 10 years of clinical experience with physical and psychosocial disabilities, and four years of human service experience, including drug and alcohol treatment, working with homeless families and veterans. She worked in Buffalo, New York before moving to Seattle.

Russell E. Woods
Community Specialist (Los Angeles)

Russell had more than eight years of experience in social services before joining the Casey family. As a business services representative for the Labor Employment and Training Corporation, he marketed government incentives to businesses, soliciting employment opportunities for unemployed and underemployed Los Angeles County residents. He also served as an eligibility worker with the Los Angeles Department of Public Social Services. As a community development technician with the City of Long Beach's Community Development Department, he provided resources to at-risk ninth graders at Woodrow Wilson High School. Russell also managed the Noncustodial Parent-to-Work Project (NCPTW) for Long Beach's Welfare-to-Work program. For five years, Russell helped noncustodial parents improve their ability to cooperate with child support orders and understand the importance of reconnecting with their children. Russell holds a B.S. from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and a Masters of Fine Arts from the California Institute of the Arts. He also works part-time with severely emotionally disturbed boys, some of whom include foster care youth, as a crisis intervention worker at the Sycamores Treatment Center in Altadena, California.

Anthony Williams
Community Specialist (New York City)

Anthony Williams came to Casey with more than 10 years of experience in planning and administering child and family services. He has worked with national, state-, and community-based nonprofit organizations, providing technical assistance and training on marketing, family engagement, and business planning. Before joining Casey, he was director of strategic planning and special projects at Family Support America. Earlier, he served as a senior budget analyst with the City of New York Department of Juvenile Justice, and as a data analyst with the Educational Planning Institute in New York City. Anthony earned a B.A. in sociology from Yale University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan.

Dan Torres
Project Coordinator (Best Practices)

Dan is a recent graduate of the University of Washington's Evans School of Public Affairs with a focus on education and social policy. While in graduate school at the University of Washington, he worked with Student Athlete Academic Services: He helped to conduct an evening study table for freshman student athletes, designed to ease the transition from high school to college. Dan also developed an evaluation plan for after-school programs as a student consultant for the Tukwila Community Schools Collaboration. He holds a B.S. in Political Science from Oregon State University and a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Washington.
